Bitcoin exchange Bitfinex resumes operations after disruption

Cryptocurrency platform Bitfinex has temporarily stopped trading due to problems. No details were given.

We are investigating issues with the platform and have to temporarily halt trading. We will keep everyone updated on here and our status page https://bitfinex.statuspage.io as we know more. We apologise for the inconvenience.

The exchange's status page says it is working to fix the glitch. The message appeared at 07:43 UTC.

A similar situation was observed in July. On that day, customers resumed work 1 hour and 45 minutes after trading was suspended.

Recall, in September, the court dismissed half of the claims against Tether and Bitfinex in a $1.4 trillion lawsuit, accusing them of violating the US Commodity Exchange Act, RICO Act, money laundering, Pump & Dump schemes, market manipulation by issuing USDT and deliberately deceiving investors.

Bitfinex doesn't offer fee-free trading. However, its fees are low compared with even the best crypto exchanges that charge fees and commission.
