Companies have accumulated almost 3% of all bitcoins

Companies have accumulated 537,000 bitcoins, representing 2.6% of the main cryptocurrency issue (21 million), according to BitcoinTreasuries. Topping the list of the largest bitcoin holders among companies is MicroStrategy, which has accumulated nearly 109,000 digital coins ($5 billion at the current exchange rate on August 26). MicroStrategy last invested in bitcoin on 24 August.

Tesla and Square are in second and third place, respectively. The automaker announced its bitcoin purchase in February this year. As of 26 August, Tesla owns 43,200 bitcoins ($2 billion).

Square invested in bitcoin in February 2021 and October 2020. The Twitter founder's payment company owns 8,000 digital coins ($374 million). At the beginning of May Square published a financial report for the first quarter of 2021, according to which income from investments in bitcoin amounted to $3.5 billion.

On the morning of August 26 bitcoin price on the cryptocurrency exchange Binance updated the weekly low at $46.6 thousand. Over the past 24 hours the main cryptocurrency has fallen in price by 4%. The rate of the asset began to decline on August 23, when it rose to a local high of $50,500.
