Third step: Buy Tezos

Tezos (XTZ) is a decentralised, blockchain-based cryptocurrency and a platform for decentralised applications. Like Ethereum, the platform offers a development environment in which companies or even private individuals can implement their own token-based business models without first having to develop a blockchain themselves. That is why smart contracts are a fundamental part of the Tezos ecosystem.
Tezos uses a delegated proof-of-work algorithm (DPoS) that allows stakeholders to influence the further development of the platform and to be rewarded for validating transactions in the network. For example, stakeholders can decide to pay individuals or groups for their work on the Tezos protocol. In this way, Tezos promises, the ecosystem will optimise and evolve on its own.
Tezos officially launched in September 2018 after raising a record-breaking $232 million in an ICO. The development of the cryptocurrency was initiated in 2014 by founders Arthur and Kathleen Breitman with a core group of developers. The Tezos Foundation, led by Ryan Jesperson, is primarily responsible for asset management and the further development of the protocol and the Tezos ecosystem. The rights to the source code are held by the founding company Dynamic Ledger Solutions, whose managing directors are Kathleen and Arthur Breitman. DLS has its headquarters in Switzerland.
After the ICO, Tezos experienced distortions between the founding company DLS and the Tezos Foundation. The Tezos share price then collapsed briefly.
