Tiger Global acquires 2.6 million shares in Coinbase

Tiger Global, an investment company with $79bn in assets under management, owns 2,625,294 shares in US cryptocurrency company Coinbase. This is reported on the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) website.

The value of Coinbase's stake in Tiger Global's portfolio is $674.25 million at the current exchange rate under the ticker COIN.

In 2018, Tiger Global led a Series E funding round that saw Coinbase raise $300m, valuing the US company at $8bn at the time.

In April 2021, Coinbase shares began trading on Nasdaq. The capitalization of the American company exceeded $100 billion.

In April, Tiger Global invested $25 million in Indian cryptocurrency exchange CoinSwitch Kuber.
